An e-visa application is not judged on how interesting your trip is. It is checked mechanically against your documents. Anything that does not line up gets sent back, and the clock restarts.
1. Passport details that do not match the scan
The number, the expiry date and the name must be identical to the data page, character for character. Middle names are the usual casualty — enter them exactly as printed, even if nobody uses them.
2. A portrait photo that fails the format
The photo must show your full face, straight on, against a plain background, with no glasses and no hat. Selfies with a shadow across one side are the single most common reason a file is rejected.
3. A blurry or cropped passport scan
Photograph the whole page flat under even light. Corners cut off, glare across the machine-readable strip, or a fold through the middle will all trigger a request for a new upload.
4. The wrong entry gate
The border gate on your e-visa is binding. If you list an airport but arrive by land, you will be turned away. Confirm the gate against your ticket before submitting.
5. An arrival date that is too tight
The visa is valid from the date you nominate, not from the date it is issued. Choose the actual date on your ticket, and leave enough processing time ahead of it.
6. Paying and then walking away
Keep an eye on the email address you registered. If the office asks for a clearer document, the request usually has a short window before the application lapses.
